Design Goes Social: Negotiating the Intersections of Art, Politics and Community

The panel discussion focused on samples in which design was used for social innovation. Two main ideas are still intriguing from it. Is design becoming exclusively a tool for social change? Will “designers” be call something else in the near future? I know that only the future will provide these answers but in my opinion, I wish that the trend of social design becomes more than that. Not only I believe that designers should be innovators but also responsible for their surroundings. The other idea intrigued me from the conversation was the concept of “chance” in design. It is important to leave a space in your creative process for outside influences. External forces and ideas can change the purpose of a project.
